Historic Boys
THEIR ENDEAVORS, THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS AND THEIR TIMES
by E. S. Brooks
from the pages of St. Nicholas Magazine
Twelve stories of real boys who influenced historical events through courage,
perseverance and fortitude. Learn about Marcus of Rome, Brian of Munster, Olaf
of Norway, William of Normandy, Baldwin of Jerusalem, Frederick of Hohenstaufen,
Harry of Monmouth, Giovanni of Florence, Ixtil’ of Tezcuco, Louis of Bourbon,
Charles of Sweden, and Van Rensselaer of Rensselaerswyck. This volume is also an
excellent introduction to the study of history. Originally compiled in 1885 from
selections which first appeared in Saint Nicholas magazine, they will delight
today’s young readers as much as they did their great-grandparents when these
tales first were written.
